The path through the dunes grass from the beach to the last boardwalk in Cherry Grove's west end. This is before Hurricane Irene. In the next painting, you can see where the hurricane came in over the dune and matted down the dune grass. I love the colors created when there is a storm in the distance but the sun is shining in the foreground. These paintings are done on Fire Island, New York.
The path from the beach to the last boardwalk on Cherry Grove, Fire Island's west end. After the hurricane, the dune grass was flattened and the water tore a wide gully through the previously narrow, grass-lined path. (See painting "Before Irene.") This was painted in October around 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.
